About
Each Sunday, it’s two hours of vintage Jamaican musical biscuits – broadcast on your radio dial in beautiful Austin, Texas at KOOP Austin 91.7 FM, and streaming at koop.org through the Mothership’s website.
Your host, Art Baker, has been doing this now for, umm, let’s just say a long time… He goes out of his way to collect vintage recordings, just so you don’t have to. In addition to a pretty cool record collection, he has an ongoing fascination with Erin the Esurance Girl – don’t say we didn’t warn you.
It’s sort of like a walk through the Jamaican musical timeline from the early 60’s to the early 80’s. Think of it this way: 30 minutes of ska, 30 minutes of rocksteady/revive, 30 minutes of classic reggae, & 30 minutes of dub. Something for the whole family, so to speak…
I’m telling you, people – it’s like Chex cereal: those who don’t like reggae haven’t actually tried reggae… And I’ve got something you’ll like – I guarantee it.*
*guarantee not actually valid on Planet Earth – if you can prove you’re tuning in from elsewhere, we’ll talk
